This past summer, Lafayette Athletics announced the ways in which the division is supporting diversity and inclusion efforts in conjunction with the College’s campus-wide effort and the formation of the Patriot League’s Anti-Racism Commission.
Simultaneously, the student led organization, Athletes of Color, started by members of the women’s basketball team Makaila Wilson ’22, Nicole Johnson ’22 and Jess Booth ’23, formed to provide support and empowerment for student athletes of color. Athletes of Color plans to schedule future discussions on campus to allow all students to share opinions from multiple points of view in a safe space. They also plan to host events to educate peers and give back to foundations that support people of color.
